Ford dealers have stopped taking orders for the Edge SUV after Ford UK decided to axe the model from its UK line-up on Friday (May 31).
Disappointing results in the latest European car crash tests has led to calls for consumers to shop with safety in mind - and for manufacturers to fit “life-saving” equipment as standard.
Ford has seen a surge of online activity around its new Edge SUV, with over 60,000 versions of the vehicle configured on its website since January.
Ford bosses hope the Edge SUV will have the same impact in the UK as the S-Max did, and has promised highly competitive PCPs and more than 6000 annual sales.
The all-new Ford Edge SUV goes on sale in the UK priced from £29,995 in the summer.
A European specification Ford Edge is to be revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show this week.
